Please Note:  The majority of the 955 mine accidents found on this site meet the definition of "mine disaster" where 5 or more miners were killed.  These include all the disasters listed at the CDC/NIOSH web site which can be viewed here.
Added to this list, I have included some accidents with less than 5 deaths.  These are typically accidents of unusual circumstance, or those of particular interest to me.  Examples of these are accidents resulting in the successful rescue of miners or incidents of rescuer deaths.
