Eleven Men are Killed in Alabama Mine Blast
Dallas Morning News, Dallas, TX
May 27, 1922

Birmingham, Ala., May 26. -- Eleven miners were killed last night in an explosion in Acmar No. 3 mine of the Alabama Fuel and Iron Company, St. Clair County, according to reports received today at the Birmingham station of the Bureau of Mines.  Five of the men were white, according to the report.

  • Calvin Lindsey
  • J. F. Martin
  • John Mitchell
  • Virgil Stone
  • Hez Walker
  • James Wedgeworth
