Narrative:  A gas explosion occurred in this mine due to the ignition of an accumulation of methane.  The accumulation of methane was caused by an interruption to the ventilating current.  The methane was ignited, either by smoking or by an electric arc originating from a nonpermissible electric motor operating a blower fan.  Three men were killed instantly; two were seriously injured and one was slightly injured.
