Six men were caught under a roof fall at this mine.  Four were killed instantly, one escaped uninjured, and one employee was pinned against an air compressor for 5 hours suffering internal injuries.


Successful Rescue

Resulting from a roof fall in the Wharton No. 2 mine, one employee was rescued after being pinned against an air compressor for 5 hours.  Four miners were killed in the accident.
