Five men lost their lives by suffocation caused by the timber in the intake airway taking fire.

The deceased:
  • Peter Creek, miner, age 45
  • Peter Crowle, laborer, age 38
  • Martin Simatovich, laborer, age 40
  • John Forinsky, miner, age 28
  • Joseph Toropski, miner, age 42
