An assistant mine foreman, loading machine operator, and a service foreman were all killed in a rib fall accident in the No. 3 entry of the Harris No. 2 mine of the Eastern Associated Coal Corporation at Bald Knob, West Virginia.

Killed in the accident at the Harris No. 2 mine were Eugene Dishmon, 43, of Kopperston; Russell L. Nutter, 22, of Cyclone; and Eddie Goodwin, 24, of Uneeda.  A fourth miner escaped injury.
