Revloc No. 1 Mine Explosion

An explosion in this mine was caused by an ignition of gas in sixteen left off No. 2 dip and was confined to the local area.  Four men lost their lives in this explosion.  The source of the ignition was probably an arc from a trolley locomotive which was being used by two mechanics.

The deceased:
  • James Barger, Jr., 23, driller
  • James M. Brady, 32, driller
  • Clifford Davis, 40, mechanic
  • Winfield Scanlan, 52, mechanic
